Immerse yourself in Star Wars and uncover who your own unique character.

You may be thinking that my whole time in Ottawa I’ve been eating and nothing else. You are partially right but today I experienced something out of this world. If you are a fan of Star Wars this may be reason enough to visit Ottawa, Star Wars Identities The Exhibition. Held at the Canadian Space and Aviation Museum it is a must visit. 30 Days In Ottawa wouldn’t be complete without a little fantasy, after all Ottawa is home to our politicians…

Canadian Space and Aviation Museum

We checked in at the Museum registration and then we were off to a massive hangar that housed the Star Wars exhibit. We were outfitted with a wrist band and headset and then we were off.

If you don’t have the Star Wars story memorized inside and out not to worry the exhibit is a guided tour that takes multimedia to a new level. The opening sequence is a short film explaining the exhibit and what you can do while you explore it. As you move throughout the displays you will be prompted to place your wristband an 10 stations and at each station you will be asked questions and your answers will in the end create for you a unique character that could have been in a star wars film.

When you walk though the exhibit the floor is marked with fluorescent tapes that let you know where to stand to hear the story. Each station has it’s own unique recording and it is triggered by your headset. At the first station we explored the different races that make up the Star Wars universe. With your wristband you select which race your character will be. I choose a Twi”Lek.

In between the “character’ stations are what true Star Wars geeks will freak out over. Actual props and memorabilia from the movies are prominently displayed and lit so beautifully ever photo you take turns out. With each replica and display is the story behind the piece on display. Great tidbits if you ever play a Star Wars Trivia game Smile

The character stations are fascinating. In fact it’s almost a school lesson. With each character building question you answer comes a video and a story which explains the choices and the impact the choices make on our character. Questions like “Who do you look up to?”, “Who do you hang out with?”, “What’s important to you?”.Who do you look up to

Who do you hang out with

What's important to you

These are just some of the questions. I don’t want to spoil it by giving it all away, you need to experience it for yourself.

The artefacts and memorabilia are amazing and around every corner you turn. some are life size like the Dune Racer while some are model sized like Jabba The Hut.

Once you reach the end of the exhibit you have one last question to answer. Are you on the side of good or dark?

No Star Wars exhibit would be complete without Darth Vader.

Once you’ve made your choice of the good vs dark side you are all ready to discover your Star Wars Identity. One last swipe of the wrist band and you are prompted to enter your email address and then your identity is emailed to you. Here’s mine.

This was so much fun!!! I don’t care if you are 5 years old or 50 years old it is a blast. The Star Wars Identities is only at the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum until September 2nd and then I’m not sure what city it will be in. So be quick and get yourself to Ottawa.

I would be remiss if I didn’t share a photo of one last display. Han Solo captured in Carbonite and Princess Leia in the actual dress from the Jabba The Hut scene.
